DEVELOPMENT AT ST. PAUL’S / ST. ANNE’S
ON 5 APRIL 2018, AN BORD PLEANÁLA NOTIFIED US THAT IT HAD GRANTED PLANNING PERMISSION FOR 536 DWELLINGS ON THE ST. PAUL’S PLAYING FIELDS, INSIDE ST. ANNES PARK. THIS DEVELOPMENT WILL COMPRISE OF 104 HOUSES AND 432 APARTMENTS IN BLOCKS OF 5 AND 8 STOREYS.
An Bord Pleanála made this decision despite an unprecedented one thousand, one hundred and two (1102) written submissions, unanimous opposition from all 15 local area Councillor’s and the recommendation of the CEO of Dublin City Council that the development be refused. It also ignored thousands of people who signed online petitions and marched in St. Anne’s Park in protest.
OVERWHELMING NUMBERS OF PEOPLE IN THE LOCAL AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES ARE AGAINST THIS DEVELOPMENT. OVER 600 PEOPLE ATTENDED A MEETING AT CLONTARF CASTLE LAST NIGHT TO PLAN FURTHER ACTION.
IT WAS DECIDED TO SEEK LEAVE TO APPLY FOR JUDICIAL REVIEW PROCEEDINGS, AS THIS IS THE ONLY OPTION AVAILABLE UNDER THE FAST TRACK STRATEGIC HOUSING SYSTEM.
PLEASE SUPPORT THIS ACTION IN WHATEVER WAY YOU CAN.
IF WE PURSUE THE JUDICIAL REVIEW OPTION, WE WILL NEED TO RAISE SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF MONEY.
Please check back here for ways to donate, and keep in touch with us on twitter @ilovestannes and Facebook.
There is no way, other than by taking legal proceedings, to stop this development at this stage.
